In This Case, I Shall Not Respect My Elder

Yes, yes it is, Roy. Actually he's absotively posolutely correct in saying that. Good Roy! *throws Roy a doggy biscuit* Uh-oh, I think he's even more displeased now...
The cause of my annoyance? NET NANNY! For those of you who don't know what this horrid creature is, let me enlighten you a bit: Net Nanny is a demon lady program thingy! She sits there and blocks out sites that are meant to be inappropriate, but instead, shuts down sites like Encyclopedia Britannica...sheesh, if you want to bar me from bad sites, do it right, Net Nanny!
But now Net Nanny has gone too far. Net Nanny has gotten the nerve to block me from posting comments and tags on Bravenet! Take a look to your left at my friends' list. Now go to each and every single one of their blogs and take note of the URLs. Any patterns? GAH! THEY'RE ALL ON BRAVENET! I can imagine the ugly, shriveled, old Net Nanny cackling away while pulling plugs all across the web...
...Stepping away from that *nervous laugh* I'm all "yucky blucky" because that time of the month is peeking at me from around the corner. You know, I've always wondered why women in general get really aggravated when some dude asks them if it's their time of the month. Is it the fact that they feel men assume that the only reason they get all psycho is because of their period? Or is it because they're too ashamed to admit it? Or is it because they wish for God to smite them in their tracks if they utter the slightest word concerning women and their "functions"? An answer to this question and my theories is welcome. I'm just curious because I don't mind being asked, while it seems that the majority of the female population has different feelings about it.
Heh, I apologize to any of you out there feeling very uncomfortable and sorry that you read this. Ah well, my blog, my way.

Little Devils >.<

This is my new idea: Because I've changed my layout (you like?), and multiple pics can end up becoming broken links, I shall post a picture before writing, conveying my mood/feelings at the moment.
A good inference from the pic above would probably be, "Sanaa's sick". Yep, I was struck by a minor stomach virus earlier today. Not pretty! My stomach feels a little weak after throwing up, but other than that, I'm okay! When I got up, I get a call from my mom saying that my sister's got a stomach ache. She was dropped off and I spent some of the day taking care of her. WHEE! She's doing well.
My sister and I felt kinda sorta bad about burdening our mom, so we spent most of the day cleaning up the house. I usually hate cleaning, but doing it for a higher cause gives me a feeling of...goodness, or something like that.
This week began the much-despised Homecoming Week. Was I glad or what that I could stay at home today! I still don't understand Homecoming Week. My theory is that a bunch of preps get together and brainstorm about what useless and idiotic things they can get the entire school to do in the spirit of "winning football" (trust me, you'd understand what those quotations meant if you had any idea of what school I go to). I believe today was Pajama Day...that worked out for me, didn't it? All I did was walk around in my pj's at home. XD
My other sister had a birthday party on Saturday for turning 6. Mama put me in charge of kids' activities. I had everything planned out, and I was really excited because I thought I'd be the picture of perfect mentor and role model to those little kids.
Turns out I was wrong.

IT'S LIST TIME!!!! *ahem* The party would've been great if:

  • My mother hadn't invited an America-hating, arrogant, "I'm-so-cool-just-because-I-only-listen-to-Japanese-music" 13 year old
  • Somebody had the sense to put the leftover ice cream into the FREEZER rather than the FRIDGE
  • The boys had been less apt to break out into spontaneous fights everywhere
  • An asinine little boy had the sense to draw on paper rather than the floor
  • The printer hadn't decided to have a paper jam, hindering me from printing out awards for our prize ceremony, and leaving me to burn my fingers
  • I hadn't thought up something so stupid as a "Prize Ceremony"
  • I hadn't been so obsessive about making everything perfect

*sigh* I thank God for the quiet, good little children who were at the birthday party. I learned my lesson though: Never expect young children to act the way you visualize them to be beforehand.

Delayed Response

Day 2 of fasting is almost over! 28 days to go, lol. By the way, thank you Badger for the "inspirational" comment. XD
My beloved Tamaki Suoh got to see my school for the first time today. He was feigning delight, I just know it. Why wouldn't he? I mean, compared to Ouran...you get the point. The real reason for bringing him to school was so I could grant Ambah temporary custody for the weekend. ^^ I forgot to give her volumes 3 and 4 of Host Club, so I made up for it by bringing her volumes 3-6. As I was gathering the manga in my room, I glanced over at Tamaki. It looked as if he was pleading with me to take him somewhere. Now that I think about it, he's only been to the mall (where Badger let me adopt him) and my room (heh...). So what the hey? I decided that I'd be nice and let him spend the weekend with Ambah...as long as she follows the house rules I laid down *pointedly stares at Ambah*
Let me tell ya, there are people at my school who are just plain stupid. Then again, aren't these types of people everywhere? People are so close-minded! It seems as if they have no regard for the happiness of fellow classmates. Sure, I must've looked strange, cuddling Tama-chan in the hallway, but must these people criticize and make snide comments?! Sheesh...
The above happened a couple of times today, but I'd like to address the scenario which occurred as I was leaving school. Ambah, Dorothy, (I won't disclose her real name, heehee. She'll go by this alias as I heard her sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," at a Beta Convention) and I were waiting for our rides outside. Me and Ambah were being our usual, giddy, random selves...then Ambah wanted to take a picture of me with Tama-chan. So she took it and I couldn't help but huggle my sweet Tamaki! Dorothy looks over at me and says, "You guys are nerds." Now usually, I'm more than happy to call myself a nerd or dork or geek or bookworm, but the way she said it...as if I were beneath her or something...it was aggravating, yet I didn't feel any annoyance or frustration with her. Ambah and I basically continued on with our random activities.
The thing is, I usually make "smalltalk" with Dorothy and regard her as a pleasant sort of person, but today, she must've gotten really ticked off by something because she began acting all presumptuous and yucky blucky. By this, I mean she kept pursuing the subject of anime and manga and how we were nerds because we like it. She also went on to say that she used to think that me and Ambah were *ahem* "like her". EXCUSE ME?! Last but not least, she said that we were *cough* "different" and kinda ended the whole thing with a mildly disgusted look at us. I have no clue why I was almost oblivious to these statements other than to simply say, "You know, I actually like being unique and original. I don't want to be compared to others in the way you think." Lol, I can imagine a ginormous crowd right now, shouting in unison, "True dat!" (...cheesy...)
It was when I was walking down my driveway that I actually processed all that she had said. That kinda seemed like a Godsend though...How? I've mentioned it before, but this is the month of Ramadan. Not only a month of fasting, but also a month to reflect on yourself and work on bad habits, stuff you want to improve about yourself, etc. One of my character flaws is my hot temper. *shaky grin* I'm really impulsive, and there are times when things come tumbling out of my mouth which I regret almost immediately after. And so, I channeled that anger by humming Shissou at the top of my vocal cords(?) and by stomping down the driveway. Dorothy better be glad I had a delayed reaction to her prejudicial comments!

Busy...Too Busy

Ugh, I don't like being distracted by the internet. I only get distracted by it when I'm supposed to be working on homework or something, but I am free to wander and roam on it when I have all the free time in the world.
Anyway, school's concrete walls are steadily closing in on me. That's why I can't post as often as other people...*cough* Mastah *cough*
On a more serious note, the workload of school has been taking its toll on me. I get home, close myself up in my room, and work. Let me warn you, I am an ABNORMAL teenager, and I miss getting to spend more time with my family. It just sucks to only hear their voices down the hallway while deciphering logarithms or writing papers. But hopefully, the next month will bring us closer to each other as it's...
RAMADAN!
*gasp* Did I never tell you I was a Muslim? Lol, well now you know. But for those of you who don't know about Ramadan, here it is: In Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until dusk for about a month in order to show their thanks to God. Tomorrow is the first day, and so I'm pretty excited. Trust me, after doing it for a couple of years, you get used to it. Then again, there is the nasty embarrassment of my stomach occasionally growling in the middle of class. *shudders* I hate it when that happens.
Speaking of embarrassment, next Monday is actually the capital holiday for embarrassment! (please excuse my dripping sarcasm) Our political science teacher assigned groups in our class different amendments for Constitution Day, expecting us to inform the entire school of our amendment. We got the sixth amendment and made a 6 minute and 45 second skit on video. TOO BAD THE TIME LIMIT IS 60 SECONDS! Gah, so we had to cut, edit, disassemble, and all other facsimiles thereof, until we got the play down to 1 minute and 34 seconds. And so, I'm dreading the Walk of Shame down the hallways after the video is broadcast. I swear, if anyone does say something tactless and/or critical in a mean-spirited way...I'm gonna...[edited here for violent content] XD
I have great news: another individual has joined the Ouran High School Host Club following! Yay for Ambah!!! I'm very pleased with myself as I am opening the door to anime and manga for her just as my badger did for me. As long as Ambah doesn't develop feelings for my Tama-chan...heh, be ready for instant hand-to-hand combat, Ambah, if you do! XD
Before I go, Leang the Asian Thing (LOL!) provided me with some great sites for downloads, one of them being http://anime-eden.com/. IT'S AWESOMELY AWESOME!!! I adore it, I love it! There are so many options and choices for downloads like anime, manga, soundtracks, icons, wallpapers, etc. WHEEEE!!!! I tell you, anything that enables me to download good music such as Shissou (Host Club end theme) is greatness.

Surprise!

Yesterday evening was great. Not the most thrilling opening, but it'll do. XD
Ambah's birthday was on Tuesday, but unfortunately, she didn't have a party. Then Shebly came up with a great idea: SURPRISE PARTY! Woot! And so, after late night phone book perusing, hunting for presents, and careful-but-still-random placement of streamers galore, it was a success. Ambah was greatly pleased as she will most likely convey when commenting on this post, and we all had a great time. To add more pleasure to Ambah's overflowing "cup of happiness," we went to the movies to see Hairspray. Cute movie. I mean, who doesn't want to see John Travolta in drag? (Note: That was a rhetorical question...see my first ever post ^^)
I'm curious about the accent Travolta had in the movie...it was very funny, yet I don't know where it could be from. Sure, the obvious answer is a Baltimore accent as the movie takes place there, but...you never know.
I'm really thankful for the brief downtime that I'm allowed on the weekend. Sheesh, if this is what it's like in high school, I'm not looking forward to the workload in college. Or maybe I'm focusing on one thing way too much. This being the murder story I've got to write for Pre-Calculus. I've never been good at writing stories, as I don't have the ingenious ability to end them successfully. My forte is more for poetry and stories that don't have endings. Too bad those two things aren't asked for as much in school T_T
Maybe I'm underestimating myself. Gah, being a stupid overachiever sucks...especially whenever you've also got a perfectionist persona and some procrastination mixed in there.
You know what? I'm not going to bring myself down. I'm going to step forth, do my best, and overachieve like crazy...until tomorrow XD

I Am A Trendsetter!

*points Tamaki-style* Everyone, I have laid down a new trend! What is it, you ask? Well, my fellows, it is a trend of getting grounded for reasons based solely on the internet! Yes, I'm not too happy with it though it may not seem so as I am covering my frustration with an overly cheerful and satirical mask!
Ha! That reminds me of something...at the end of Toy Story 2, the credits are rolling and Tour Guide Barbie stands there, waving to the audience, telling them to throw trash away, etc. When she thinks everyone's left the theater her broad grinning smile "deflates" into a drooping frown. It's so hilarious...Anyway, my act up there in the first paragraph kinda sorta reminded me of her. As So-and-So from Teen Girl Squad would say: "Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...'k."
I'm thankful though. My sentence is only 2 days and I'm still allowed to use the phone. Then again, today's Wednesday and it seems like everybody's doing something church-affiliated XD
Ah well, I must leave for now and read some chapters from To Kill A Mockingbird. It's pretty deep once you think about all that's going on...

Chicago's Secret Revealed!

And so, we're back from Chicago! What a great place it is. I actually found out why it's called, "The Windy City," so everyone gather round, sit criss-cross-applesauce, and listen:
It was in the early 1900s when Chicago was getting ready for its World Fair, which could also be considered the world's biggest festival back then, celebrating cultures around the world. The planners boasted of the tip-top shape the city was in for the Fair and made sure to brag about it...alot. Hearing this, a reporter from New York City decided to visit the preparation sites in Chicago. What he found was not to his taste: buildings had been constructed poorly, the roads were horrible, and the booked stalls that were to be set up hadn't been heard from in weeks. The journalist went back to NYC and wrote a very critical article about the state of affairs in Chicago, calling the World Fair committee a bunch of windbags. (Now that's what you call a BURN in the early 1900s!) Later in the article, he converted his description of the committee to include the entire city, therefore calling it "The Windy City"! Nifty, eh?
Sure, that wasn't the most thrilling story, but it was pretty interesting. The windiest city in the U.S. is actually Boston, Mass. Ironic...
Mai-chan, we did take pictures in Chicago! The downside to that statement is that we don't have a digital camera. Our family hasn't fully transitioned into the 21st century, but we're slowly climbing up the ladder! And if I think about it, we're most probably on the first step of that tall ladder, as we've been discussing the concept of digital cameras amongst ourselves.XD
Happy Labor Day to one and all out there!
So when Badger came to visit a couple of weeks ago, she recommended to me a series entitled "DearS". I bought the first two volumes just to get a sort of feel of them. The first thing that occurred to me is that it's so much like Chobits. Guy likes hentai, guy finds pretty girl, guy finds that he must take care of her, etc. I found myself trying to force myself to like it, but I think if I hadn't read Chobits already, I would have enjoyed it more. So my recommendation is that you read DearS or Chobits...not both, unless you can't get enough of the two.
My resolution is to exchange DearS for the first two volumes of Trinity Blood. I've been watching the anime, and so far, it's been very intriguing. I mean, it's got several points of interest. (I'm geeky enough to list them!)
  • Setting- Rome is a wonderful place. The history, the scenery, I love it! The anime itself portrays the city and other places in Europe with such detail and beauty. Other than scenery, there's the whole "theocratic-like" rule that sorta draws me in.
  • Vampires- I've always found reading about these mythological creatures really interesting. The anime portrays them in different lights throughout, and I like that.
  • Beliefs- We've got vampires and the Roman Catholic Church. Such a combination will definitely lead to war. But the anime shows both sides, in which good and bad connect and diverge.

*sigh* I just wish the volumes would come out at a faster pace. Only three are out and the fourth one's due for February of '08. T__T I think I'm going to start a book list...
